Lundan‘s House is organizing a BIG MOVE coming up. My parents are downsizing their home, currently they have a 4,600 square foot home. Let me walk you through this long process, best practices and easy moving tips. I have 4 steps that will make this easy. 1. THROW-Get rid of all the ’unecessary’! (I’ll post a great checklist of items you don’t think of that will aid you in your ‘throw’ process) TIP* Garage sale! 2. SELL-If you can sell it, go for it! Sofas, old dresses, night stands...we accumulate so many things over time this is a great way to start fresh. Plus making a few extra bucks will always help! 3. DISSASEMBLE-Make moving easier and less costly by taking the extra mile and doing the hard work yourself. 4. PACK-Time to get moving. Labels and color coding helps.
Today what I did first was walk through every room of this home and create a list of throw, sell and keep. Don’t be overwhelmed by random packing and not knowing what to do first. Staying organized is key and this helps with the stress that moving brings.
Next, I started from the top down, pictures, decor and then curtains (make sure you keep the hardware for this). I separated each pile in the mean time staying organized. I also emptied all vanity items and closets.
After this I
arranged a few quotes from moving companies. This helps to know how to budget for your move, maybe you can save extra cost by moving some items yourself.
This was was all I had time for today. I’ll keep you posted on every step of the way.
