So, I inherited food from my mom and I had no idea where I was going to store it all but absolutely thankful! I took advantage of the challenge and decided to reorganize our pantry. Here is what I did. I took everything that was currently in the pantry and placed everything into sections on the kitchen counter, I cleaned the shelves and divided into categories. Then I threw out everything that was expired..surprisingly a lot, I hate to admit it! I decided to divide the pantry in half, each section for different categories. For example: pasta, sauces, canned items etc. On a funny note, my husband didn't like the microwave on the counter so on the floor it is! I haven't purchased containers like you see in most organization tips for your pantry, it really isn't needed. I used all the items I had around the house. You can see a white trey right in the middle shelf, I used this to hold my potatos and paper plates as before it held our vegetables on the kitchen island. Let me tell you my pantry staples and how I came up with the different categories. Pasta's and Asian noodles, we cook so many spicy healthy dishes with this so it's a must. I kept all of the bread and chips on the bottom for easy access when someone wants a snack or two. Next I took all of the canned items put them to one side then all of my moms homemade BBQ rubs and oils to the right. I used the white trey in the middle to divide it while providing easy access to a paper plate. I had to keep in mind I use the top shelf for storage. So I kept the boxed items there, I don't use those as much so it doesn't need to be on eye level. I had quite a few baking items that I placed to the left, I don't use those as much either so a top shelf was fine. I used an old liquor box to hold all of my recycled bags on the floor and used a small hook on the left to hold my Mrs. Santa Claus apron that I use often! This technique works for me and I can find my pantry items A LOT easier. Tell me what you think!
